Totalizer flow meters

Totalizer flow meter is also called Totalizing flow meter. It refers to the totalizing function of the flow meter, or an instrument that can realize flow display and flow totalization. The flow totalizer is used in conjunction with the flow sensor. The flow parameters can be measured and displayed, accumulated calculation, alarm, output, data acquisition and communication.

Sino-Inst offers a variety of Totalizer flow meters for flow measurement. If you have any questions, please contact our sales engineers.

Totalizing flow meter water

An electromagnetic flowmeter is a common water meter in industrial flow meters. It is a fully intelligent flowmeter. It has the function of displaying instantaneous flow and accumulated flow, and there are a variety of flow units to choose from.

And its output signal is also diversified, there are (4-20) mA, RS485, pulse, HART and other output signals to meet the needs of different working conditions.

Electromagnetic flowmeter is a commonly used flowmeter in modern flow measuring instruments. Its structure is simple, easy to install and use, and the price is relatively economical. It is very trusted by the majority of users.

For example, in the city water supply unit needs to measure the total daily water supply. At this time, you need to read the required data from the flowmeter. The instantaneous flow rate every hour and the cumulative flow rate within a specific time. It is very convenient to use.

A pure totalizer is not a flow meter.

Usually, flow meters measure instantaneous flow. If you need to know the total amount of flow, you need to use a totalizer.

A complete flow detection system includes several parts such as sensing, transmission, calculation, integration, display, etc. Each part can be an independent instrument. It is also possible to integrate several functions into one watch.

Many flow totalizers on the market now integrate calculation, totalization, and display. It includes most of the functions of the flow system. Some manufacturers set the totalizer and other parts as flow meters and use the name of the complete set on the totalizer. If you buy the totalizer alone, you will see that the name is flowmeter.

So the flowmeter [maybe] includes a totalizer, but the totalizer is not a flowmeter.

Our flow totalizers all support 4-20mA signals. Not just 4-20mA input signals. You can also choose to output a 4-20mA signal.

Our flow totalizers support the display of various commonly used flow units. Paperless recorders contain more units for flow, pressure, temperature, etc.

For example, with the following common units: ℃, Kgf , Pa, KPa, MPa, mmHg, mmH2O, bar, t/h, Kg/h, L/h, m³/h, Nm³/h, t/m, Kg/ m, L/m, m³/m, Nm³/m, t/s, Kg/s, L/s, m³/s, Nm³/s, t, Kg, g, Nm³, m³, L, KJ/h, KJ/m, KJ/s, MJ/h, MJ/m, MJ/s, GJ/h, GJ/m, GJ/s, KJ, MJ , GJ , V, A, KW, Hz, %, mm, rpm;

Flow meter totalizer calculation

Flow meter totalizer calculation refers to the collection of this flow at a fixed frequency.

If the acquisition frequency is 10hz, that is, 10 acquisitions per second. Accumulate the data collected each time, and divide the accumulated number by 10 to get the flow per second.

If the flowmeter is working at the maximum flow rate, we assume that the value corresponding to 20ma is 65535 (generally, the PLC analog quantity does not have such a high accuracy, so how much depends on the module).

Then double-word operations can meet the requirements. First convert the analog input value into a double word. Accumulate again. After 10 times, the accumulated value is divided by 10 and then transferred to another register. This register is the real cumulative amount.

Flow totalizer working principle

The intelligent flow totalizer is composed of four parts: measurement loop, digital panel meter, regulator and power supply.

The stabilized power supply converts the 220V power supply into a stable DC voltage as the other part of the power supply. The measurement loop processes the signal (voltage, current, etc.) sent by the flow transmitter into a voltage signal.

After A/D conversion, the signal is sent to the JC-775 dedicated central processing unit for processing, and not only to the digital panel meter. Moreover, it must be sent to the regulator, and the control or alarm signal will be output according to the regulation law after comparing with the set value.

How to realize the flow accumulation function in PLC?

First of all, it must be clear that the accuracy of using PLC for flow accumulation is far inferior to electromagnetic flowmeters and other flowmeters and flow totalizers that have their own accumulation function.

For flowmeter converters with accumulation function, the flow accumulation output of the general flow converter is pulse output. High-speed counting can be performed through the high-speed pulse input terminal of the PLC to obtain the cumulative flow.

For flowmeters with only instantaneous flow output, the flow cumulative addition operation is considered in PLC.

When doing flow accumulation in the PLC, you should not use a timer to do it. Because the timer is affected by the PLC scan cycle. It is impossible to be very accurate, and the error of the accumulated data is very large.

At present, general medium and large PLCs directly or indirectly provide the “Totalizer” function block. The essence is to simply accumulate the instantaneous flow of each acquisition cycle.

Asked
Questions

Vortex flowmeter is a speed-type flowmeter produced according to karman’s vortex principle,
which can be used for the measurement and measurement of conventional gas, steam and
liquid.
More about : Vortex Flow Meter Working Principle

The totalizer is a secondary instrument, and its main purpose is to calculate the flow rate of the signal from the primary instrument.
For example, when measuring steam, the vortex is a flow meter. Consider the fluid temperature and pressure density. The flow calculation is performed by the calculator to display the fluid quality, and the flow can be accumulated at the same time.
Generally, some flow meters must be used with secondary meters. The differential pressure flowmeter calculates the flow rate through the differential pressure signal sent by the differential pressure transmitter.

The totalizer of the flowmeter refers to the converter of the flowmeter. It is a converter with totalizer, which can display instantaneous flow and cumulative flow.
