The measurement is based on the signal correlation method. Multi-channel products can use multiple channels at once, which greatly reduces the impact of turbulence. This makes the device more adaptable and accurate for different situations, ensuring reliable small flow and heat measurements.

The metal tube float flowmeter is mainly composed of two parts: the measuring tube and the indicator. The measuring tube includes a conical tube or orifice, guide, stopper, float, and other components. The indicator includes a magnetic follower system, pointer, dial, circuit, and other components.

The measured medium flows through the measuring tube from bottom to top. The upper and lower ends of the float generate differential pressure to form a rising force. When the rising force of the float is greater than the weight of the float immersed in the flowing fluid, the float rises, and the annular gap area increases. Annular gap When the fluid velocity drops rapidly, the differential pressure at the upper and lower ends of the float decreases. The ascending force acting on the float decreases. A Rotameter flow meter is a variable area flow meter. It consists of measuring tube, float, indicator, process connection, and so on.

Rotameter flow meter working principle

When the measured fluid passes through the annulus formed by the cone and floats from the bottom to top.

The differential pressure produced at the upper and lower ends of the float forms the force for the float to rise.

When the rise of the float is greater than the weight of the float immersed in the fluid. The float rises.

The annulus area increases accordingly. The fluid velocity in the annulus drops immediately.

The differential pressure at the upper and lower ends of the float is reduced. The lifting force acting on the float also decreases.

Until the rising force equals the weight of the float immersed in the fluid, the float will stabilize at a certain height.

The height of the float in the tapered tube and the flow rate through it correspond to each other.

  • Installed vertically on a vibration-free pipe. The fluid flows through the meter from bottom to top.
  • When measuring dirty fluids, a filter should be installed upstream of the meter
  • If the fluid itself is pulsating, a buffer tank can be installed. If the instrument itself oscillates, a damping device can be installed.
  • The gas in the instrument must be drained of the liquid.
  • The control valve in the measurement and control system should be installed downstream of the flowmeter. When used for gas measurement, ensure that the working pressure is not less than 5 times the pressure loss of the flowmeter. In order to make the flowmeter work stably.
  • Before installing the metal rotor flowmeter, the welding slag in the pipeline should be purged. Remove the stop element from the flowmeter when installing. When using after installation, open the control valve slowly. Avoid impact damage to the flowmeter.
  • If the measurement requires a wide range of flow, the range exceeds 10 o’clock. Two floats of different shapes and weights can be placed in one instrument. Take the frivolity reading when the flow is small. After the float reaches the top, take the reading of the heavy float. The range can be expanded to 50-100.
  • Liquid meters are usually calibrated with water, and gas meters are calibrated with air. The fixed value is in the engineering standard state. If the fluid density, gas pressure, and temperature of the use conditions are inconsistent with the calibration. Make necessary conversions.

Gas mass flow controller working principle

The mass flow meter uses the principle of capillary heat transfer thermometry to measure the mass flow of gas (without temperature and pressure compensation).

Gear flow meter working principle

Gear flow transmitter is a type of positive displacement flow transmitter. It is a high-precision transmitter for measuring volume flow.

With the flow of the medium, the gears mesh and rotate. Under the action of the fluid flow, a pressure difference is formed at both ends of the instrument inlet and outlet. There is no need for a power supply. A pair of gears rotate freely. The cavity between the gears is filled with liquid. Discharge and measure the number of revolutions of the gear to know the flow of liquid and liquid flowing through the instrument.

The rotation speed of the round gear transmitter is detected by the sensor coil in the signal amplifier mounted on the watch case. The signal amplifier is not in contact with the measured medium. When the transmitter gear cuts the magnetic field lines generated by the permanent magnet in the housing, it will cause the magnetic flux in the sensing coil to change.

Oval Gear Flow Meter

Oval gear flow meters (also known as displacement flow meters, gear flow meters) are a type of positive displacement flow meters, which are the most accurate type of flow meters. It uses a mechanical measuring element to continuously divide the fluid into a single known volume part, and measures the total flow volume according to the number of times that the metering chamber is filled and discharged with the volume part of the fluid successively and repeatedly. Oval Gear Flow Meter Advantages and Disadvantages

The working principle of gas Roots flowmeter

Gas Roots flowmeter is a positive displacement flow meter.

When the gas passes through the flow meter, the pressure difference generated between the inlet and the outlet acts on a pair of waist wheels connected with high-precision synchronous gears to drive the waist wheels to rotate.

During this period, the enclosed space formed between the waist wheel and the inner wall of the housing and the gland is periodically inflated and exhausted by a metering chamber. The speed of the waist wheel is proportional to the volume of gas passing through the flow meter.

The rotation of the waist wheel is transmitted to the mechanical counter or output flow pulse signal through the magnetic coupler, so as to accumulate the volume flowing through the metering cavity to achieve the purpose of metering.

How does a Roots meter work?

Roots meter is also called waist flow meter. The working principle is the same as that of the oval gear flowmeter, and the structure is also very similar, except that the shape of the rotor is slightly different.

The rotor of the Roots meter is a pair of waist-shaped wheels without teeth. During the rotation, the two waist wheels do not directly contact and maintain a small gap. The driving is completed by the meshing gear that is sleeved outside the shell and coaxial with the waist wheel. This has obvious advantages compared with oval gear flow meters.

Oval gears have large meshing contact wear and are greatly affected by the cleanliness of the measured fluid. Easy to damage and reduce accuracy.

The Roots meter is linked by an additional drive gear, so there is no contact between the measuring elements during operation. Therefore, the wear during operation is very small, and high measurement accuracy can be achieved. It can keep the long-term stable parts of the flowmeter.

The structure of the waist wheel flowmeter can be divided into vertical and horizontal according to the working state:

The structure of the waist wheel includes a pair of waist wheels and a combined waist wheel composed of two pairs of waist wheels at an angle of 450 to each other.

The combined waist wheel flowmeter runs smoothly, which can greatly reduce the pressure fluctuation in the pipeline.

Generally, large-diameter flowmeters use vertical or horizontal combined waist wheels to reduce or eliminate pipeline vibration caused during flow measurement.

The rotor line of the waist wheel flowmeter is more reasonable, allowing the measurement of fluids containing tiny particles. Can be used for gas and liquid measurement. It is a positive displacement flowmeter that has been rapidly developed and widely used in recent years.

In addition to being used for industrial measurement, Roots meter is also used as a standard flow meter to calibrate other types of flow meters. The accuracy can reach ±0.1%.
